Family: Labridae

Distribution: Caribbean

We have recorded sounds for this species associated with inter- and intraspecific agonistic interactions, usually one to two pulses coinciding with rapid movement. We have also recorded distinct multipulsed sounds, often produced when the fish are present in large numbers, suggesting possible intraspecific communication/mating behaviors.

Subtle and low frequency sounds may require headphones to hear.
