Family: Priacanthidae

Distribution: Caribbean

We have recorded sounds for this species with unclear behavioral context, typically a single pulse associated with rapid movement. We have also recorded distinct multipulsed sounds, often produced when the fish are present in large numbers at night, suggesting possible intraspecific communication/mating behaviors.

Subtle and low frequency sounds may require headphones to hear.
